Recruitment Prep: Your Social Media Guide

As sorority recruitment season gets closer, keep in mind social media does make an impact! It's the perfect time to enhance your social media presence for a great first impression. Whether you're a social media enthusiast or a more reserved individual, these tips will guide you in showcasing your best self online.

1. Assess your first impression: Start by cleaning up your profiles. Remove any posts, stories, or tagged photos that might raise eyebrows. This includes anything with party vibes—bye-bye boozy snaps and those notorious red solo cups.

2. Dress to Impress (Virtually): While your swimsuit shots from last summer might be stunning, it's wise to keep bikini pics private or to a minimum for now. Aim for a more approachable and friendly message. Remember to showcase all sides of your personality with your friends, family, and activities you care about. Too many solo pics don’t tell a story about all that you offer.

3. Mind Your Language: Check your captions and comments for any colorful language or inside jokes that might not translate well. This could include those Halloween pics too. Keep it classy and positive!

4. Sorority Specifics: While it might be tempting to flaunt your Greek life connections, it's best to avoid photos hanging out with your sorority besties or checking out a college party. This ensures your profile remains inviting to all sororities. If you make a spring visit to your campus, post about all the places you look forward to checking out in the fall!

FAQs About Social Media & Recruitment:

  • Following Sororities: Go ahead and follow ALL sorority accounts on your campus, but make sure you engage with all of them, not just your favorites.

  • Public vs. Private Accounts: Consider going public in early Spring of your senior year. This lets sororities see the real you before recruitment kicks off.

  • For the Social Media Minimualist: If you're not very active online, aim to post at a level that feels comfortable for you. Social media can be a great way for sororities to see your personality and interests. Start with a few fun stories a week and gradually ramp it up. Let your personality and passions shine through!

Remember, your social media is a reflection of you—showcase what makes you unique and let your personality shine through! We’re cheering for you on and can’t wait to see all the amazing sides of your personality!
